Evidence-Based Practice Two
Course Description: This course focuses on current review of nursing research literature and research evaluation through an evidence-based practice approach. Emphasis is placed on developing the skills required for scholarly writing, scientific inquiry, quantitative/qualitative analysis, and interpretation and utilization of research in nursing practice. This course prepares graduates to participate as members of a research/quality improvement team.
Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply theories from the art and science of nursing, the natural/behavioral sciences and humanities to nursing education, practice and research.
- Utilize theoretical frameworks as a basis for education, nursing, interprofessional practice, research utilization and translation.
- Analyze ethics and core values that influence evidence-guided care for individuals, families, and communities.
- Integrate knowledge and skill in best available research evidence for nursing practice.
- Recognize leadership and management contributions nurses make to implement evidence into practice environments.
- Model self care as salient approach for systematic, holistic care of individuals, families and communities.
- Integrate evidence based principles to address contemporary health care issues.
