Preparation for Licensure

Preparation for Licensure

After completing the ATI RN Comprehensive Predictor Practice A exam, I finished with a total of 78% in about 2 hours and 44 minutes. Although this score isn’t the highest, I feel accomplished with my results. I was really nervous during this practice exam as it was comprehensive; similar to the NCLEX. When reviewing my individual performance, a majority of the incorrect content was information and procedures that I haven’t gone over in quite some time. For instance, tracheostomy care was a topic that I needed to improve upon. This information was something that I have practiced in skills lab and during lecture, however, I haven’t applied it in a while. My remediations allowed me to brush up on knowledge that I have learned in the past by filling my content gaps and deficits. I think that this preparation that we have been doing throughout the semester has been very beneficial to me as a nursing student. During this practice exam, I feel that I took an adequate amount of time per question which was around 1 minute. I also made use of a break around the half way point at 75 questions to refresh my thinking. I noticed that I was getting tired and losing concentration near 75 questions. By taking this break, it allowed me to reset my brain to go forward with the last 75 questions more concentrated than I was before. These skills will go forward with me as I prepare for graduation and the NCLEX examination.
