Preparation for Licensure
Upon completion of the ATI Adult Medical-Surgical practice exam and remediation, I was able to identify areas of my nursing knowledge that I needed a refresher upon. Overall, the exam went well. Although it took me 237 questions to complete, it provided a lot of insight into what I need to study and restudy. I found that taking breaks helped me with maintaining my concentration and focus. As the questions continued past 150+, I became really nervous. This is where I took a break. Then I thought to myself, it’s okay. There is a reason why this is being done, and it’s to help me be successful in completing the NECLX. I found that there was some medical terminology that I knew I knew, but I had a brain block. After remediating, it became more clear to me as to what the term meant and what the answer would be. There were also a few questions where I said to myself, why would I pick this answer after I remediated. With my next assignment, I am going to continue to with a lot of what I have been doing. This includes using the highlight and strike out options on ATI. This helps me remove distractors from my sight, and it allows me to narrow down my answer. One thing that I will improve upon is ensuring that I am an environment where I can really focus.
